Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon provides a “home away from home” for out-of-town families with children receiving medical treatment at BC Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. The House celebrates connection to nature, and connection to each other, in a unique space of healing. There is a pressing need for a new House to meet the growing needs of families from around the Province. 500+ families are turned away from the current House each year. Further, there is sadly a specific need for long-term stay suites not currently met with the existing house. The new House will be designed specifically to provide these families, in their most trying times, with affordable homes, community cooking and dinning, and connectivity, all of which is paramount to the healing of their seriously ill children.

Additionally, this new housing is supported by MST, as it will be located beside MST Development Corporations Heather Lands. They have been an active part in shaping how this new housing will fit into their plans for the community.

As we embark on a bold new project to build a second Ronald McDonald House to double our impact for families across BC and Yukon, we have been very fortunate to have the support of Sabrina from Empacta as a consultant. Her expertise in navigating complex municipal systems, fostering meaningful engagements with stakeholders including First Nations communities, and identifying funding sources for social housing-related projects has been very valuable. Sabrina’s assistance in facilitating collaborations between stakeholders from various backgrounds ensure that projects are approached with inclusivity and sensitivity to cultural contexts. With Sabrina’s guidance, organizations can expect tailored strategies to meet their needs.
